Narrabri Shire Council is seeking community feedback on proposed amendments to its Procurement Policy.
The Procurement Policy guides how Council purchases goods and services and helps ensure procurement activities are undertaken in a fair, transparent and accountable manner.
Following a recent review, several minor amendments have been proposed to improve the policy's operation and ensure it remains practical, compliant and fit for purpose. Key changes include:
Increasing the local supplier monthly order value threshold from $50 to $75 to reflect increases in the cost of goods and services.
Removing references to petty cash, which has been replaced by staff reimbursement processes.
Updating provisions relating to Indigenous suppliers to align with current procurement opportunities available through Supply Nation-certified suppliers and the Local Government Procurement First Nations Procurement Strategy.
Council has endorsed the draft policy for public exhibition and invites members of the community to provide feedback before the policy is considered for adoption.
The draft Procurement Policy is on public exhibition until 5.00pm Thursday 26 November 2026.
