Narrabri Shire Council is inviting community feedback on its draft Financial Future Strategy 2026-2031.
The strategy has been developed to guide Council's approach to long-term financial sustainability and ensure it can continue delivering essential infrastructure, services and community outcomes for current and future generations.
Like many councils across Australia, Narrabri Shire Council is experiencing increasing financial pressures, including rising costs, ageing assets, changing community expectations and constraints on revenue growth. The strategy outlines the challenges facing Council and identifies actions to strengthen financial resilience over the coming years.
The draft strategy explores opportunities to improve financial performance through service reviews, efficiency improvements, revenue optimisation, asset management and enhanced financial reporting. It also outlines future investigations into options that may assist Council in maintaining long-term financial sustainability.
Council is committed to being transparent about these challenges and invites residents, businesses and stakeholders to review the draft strategy and provide feedback.
Submissions received during the exhibition period will be considered before the strategy is presented back to Council for adoption.
