Narrabri Shire Council has received grant funding through the Regional Housing Strategic Planning Fund Round 3 – 2024 to prepare a new Narrabri Development Control Plan 2026 (NDCP 2026). This work will replace the existing Development Control Plans, many of which date back several decades and are no longer aligned with contemporary planning practice.

The purpose of the Narrabri Development Control Plan 2026 (NDCP 2026) is to:

  • Give effect to the aims and planning controls of the Narrabri Local Environmental Plan 2012 (LEP).
  • Provide clear, consistent development criteria for the types of development commonly occurring in Narrabri Shire.
  • Support Council’s adopted strategies and studies, ensuring development aligns with community expectations and strategic planning outcomes.

At the conclusion of the exhibition period, a further report will be presented to Council summarising submissions received, recommending any amendments, and seeking final adoption of the NDCP 2026.
